James Lee Burke Books:
Welcome to my blog about James Lee Burke Books, including audio books which are my favorite because they are read by reader Will Patton. If you are here you must be a fan of James Lee Burke. Maybe you have only read one book of his? Or maybe you have read nearly all of them and want to see if there are any more left? Whatever your reason we are glad you are here and we wish to welcome you and hope you interact with our book community!
First let's start with a little about the background of the Man himself. James Lee Burke was born in Houston Texas in 1936 and grew up on the Texas-Louisiana Gulf Coast. He attended a Southwestern Louisiana institute and later received a B.A degree in English and M.A. from the University of Missouri in 1958 and 1960. Over the years he worked as a landman for Sinclair Oil Company, pipeliner, land surveyor, newspaper reporter, College English Professor, social worker on skid row in Los Angeles, clerk for the Louisiana unemployment office, and and instructor in the U.S. Job Corps.
He and his wife Pearl met in graduate school and have been married 48 years. They had four children together. His novel The Lost Get-Back Boogie was rejected 111 times over a period of nine years, and upon publication by Louisiana State University press was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize.
Here is the very first audio book I listened to by James Lee Burke, called Rain Gods and read by Will Patton. I really enjoyed the book and it still remains one of my favorite of his till this day. The only one I enjoyed more was Feast Day Of Fools
